John Svenson, PhD, CSP

I joined UNC Charlotte in 2022 serving as the Associate Director of Environmental Health and Safety. I have previously been on both faculty and staff and supported EHS programs in higher education across the country since 2008. It is my pleasure to help others, promote a culture of safety, and support Charlotte’s mission of teaching, research, and service through the EHS department.

I earned a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Biology from NC State University and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the Medical University of South Carolina. I am also a Certified Safety Professional.

I have too many hobbies to list, but primarily enjoy playing music, working in the garden, and spending time with my family.
